Usambara Mountains
The tropical forests of the Usambara mountains in north-east Tanzania are known for their abundance of biodiversity - although the majority of the original forests have been consumed by logging and farming. Our short trip to this region provided just a quick introduction to this beautiful region.
We drove from Moshi, through Mombo, to Lushoto. From there we continued to Soni and Bumbuli, with plans to hike from Mayo village through the Mazumbai natural rain Forest to Mgwashi village. However, recent rains made travel on the muddy, rutted roads impossible, so we spent extra time at the beautiful and relaxing at the Maweni Farm House.
